Tank Removal

Here is the Quick Environmental process for tank removal:

  1. Call New Jersey Dig Line or Pennsylvania Dig Line to mark out all underground utilities.
  2. Find out what product is in the tank (heating oil, kerosene, waste oil, water, etc.).
  3. Put 4x8 foot mats down to dissipate the weight of the trucks/backhoes on the lawn. This helps prevent damage to the sidewalk and lawn.
  4. Drain and flush all piping going into the tank, being very careful to avoid spilling.
  5. Have the residual heating oil pumped from the tank. Remove any solids or sludge. Any material which cannot be recycled must be disposed of in accordance with applicable Federal and State regulations.
  6. Carefully dig down to top of the tank to prevent possible damage to buried utilities (telephone, natural gas, water, lines and/or irrigation lines).
  7. Dig topsoil off the top of the tank (which usually is buried 24 inches below grade) and put in a separate pile to be used at the end of the job.
  8. Quick Environmental will have one of our certified field technicians hand clean the tank of all oil and sludge.
  9. The hole is back-filled with certified clean fill and compressed down to avoid settling. The ground cover is seeded and covered with a layer of hay to help the seeds germinate. Most importantly, we leave the job site in a clean and neat condition.
  10. After completion of the job, a certification letter is provided detailing the work performed and stating that it meets all Local, State, and Fire Code Regulations.
